Geography

Evidently our Pierre Bardet was a "Garde de Sel" in 1696 in Nieul-Sur-Mer, (Charente-Maritime) from 1694-1698 Nieul-Sur-Mer is just north of La Rochelle, but of course the family came back to La Rochelle, as he and his wife are buried from La Rochelle churches (Saint-Barthelemy and Saint-Jean-du-Perrot respectively)

Which also happens to be my ancestor..Francoise Larchevesque born 15 February 1733 when her mother (Anne-Helene Bardet) was 45 years old and died the 3rd of October (Buried the 4th) 1805 Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire-Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec.

it appears our Anne-Marie (aka Anne-Helene) had an illegitimate child ... born the 11th and Baptized the 12th of December 1707 in The parish of Saint-Barthelemy-de-La-Rochelle
She named her Marie, most likely for her mother Marie de Moucheron

I guess things got tough for our Anne-Helene Bardet

Anne-Helene's sister Marie-Suzanne had this illegitimate child (Louise Bardet) 9 June 1715

and then Suzanne died shortly thereafter on 13 June 1715, all recorded in The Church at Saint-Jean-Perrot

I used to wonder how a woman of such breeding and wealth (her paternal grandfather and great-grandfather were Billionaires by todays standards) would have fallen to the place of servant (as she was when she first arrived in New France) but it is now obvious that after her father Pierre died in 1704, things went very badly for the widow and her young children.
